Houston Star Takes Triple Crown
Tuesday, October 8th, 1991
It was a season to remember for Ricardo Escobedo of the Black Gold. The slugging shortstop led the Senior Circuit in batting average at .382, home runs with 30 and runs batted in with 77 to win the Triple Crown.

"I never made it a goal to win the Triple Crown," said Escobedo. "I try to have fun out there, hit the ball hard. The rest will take care of itself."

The Triple Crown, one of the most difficult achievements to attain, now belongs to Escobedo. He is the 6th player to accomplish the feat. "Someday I'll be able to tell my grandchildren I won the Triple Crown," he noted. "How many players can say that?"
